This June, history and charity come together across Northern Ireland for a remarkable journey of remembrance. To mark the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, a sponsored 60-mile walk will span six counties in six days, raising vital funds for the Somme Association and Air Ambulance NI.

Whether you are a veteran, a family member, or a supporter of these incredible causes, this is an invitation to lace up your boots and walk through the heart of our local history.

The Journey: 6 Days, 6 Counties

The walk is designed to connect communities across the province, stopping at key landmarks and memorials along the way. Here is the official route:

• 1 June (Co. Antrim): Cullybackey – Ballymena – Broughshane

• 2 June (Co. Down): Annalong – Kilkeel

• 3 June (Co. Armagh): Armagh – Portadown

• 4 June (Co. Fermanagh): Brookeborough – Enniskillen

• 5 June (Co. Tyrone): Dungannon – Cookstown

• 6 June (Co. Londonderry): Castlerock – Coleraine – Portstewart

Why We Walk

The Battle of the Somme remains one of the most significant events in our shared history. This walk serves as a living tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served.

By participating or donating, you are directly supporting two essential organizations:

1. The Somme Association: Dedicated to keeping the memory of the 36th (Ulster) and 16th (Irish) Divisions alive through education and preservation.

2. Air Ambulance NI: Providing life-saving pre-hospital care across the region, ensuring that critical medical assistance can reach anyone, anywhere, in their time of need.

How to Get Involved

You don’t have to walk the full 60 miles to make a difference! Supporters are welcome to join for specific legs of the journey or cheer the walkers on as they pass through their local towns.
